I found this place on the internet and decided to try it out. The breakfast was great and we only had to wait about 15 minutes before being seated. The only thing I did not like is the place is kinda small, so you get this cramped feeling.

Disappointed...

My husband and I have lived in VA Beach for over a year now and have heard nothing but great things about Doc Taylors so we tried going a few times and could never get because the wait was always 2 hours. So we opted to go on a Monday instead we got in no problem. The food was exactly what we were hoping for but the service was awful. We were not greeted for about 15 minutes until we finally asked someone and we only saw our waitress twice to take out order and bring our check. We left full but were disappointed in the lack of customer service. We decided to try it out again the following Monday and had the same situation. The restaurant was not busy so we don't know where our waitress could have been. We won't be returning.

My husband and I have been coming to Doc Taylor's since the beginning. We have watched the restaurant grow over the years and we cannot believe how it just keeps getting better and better. From the second you walk in the door and are greeted by Aubrey's smiling face to getting to watch Ronnie make your delicious bloody marys to eating RayRay's outstanding food, Doc Taylor's is always a treat. We always request Kelly or Nichole as our waitress because they just make the experience even better. This place would not be nearly the same without the kind friends we love that work there, the low-priced drinks, the amazing food, or even the 1 1/2 hour wait! Doc Taylor's is by far the greatest local spot and it's one place I'd be happy to share with the tourists.. Everyone needs to know about this place! See you Sunday!!

Outstanding food and vibe

What an outstanding place to have in va beach, beautiful location, excellent food served super fast by the best restaraunt crew i have ever come across. And all of that would not be possible without the head Chef Ray, a master at his craft I have seen Ray sling out orders at supersonic speeds. The entire waitstaff is makes the experience even more awesome too. If you haven't been to Doc Taylor's, then you haven't had the best breakfast and lunch in Va beach. My Recommendation is try the Ray Ray sandwich, its an eye opener.

My wife and I have been big fans of the food and staff for years. The best hamburger in town. However, recently on three consecutive Saturdays, like Dan who posted the same experience, we arrived between 1:30 and 2PM toward the end of the lunch hour hoping to have lunch. On all three occasions the hostess, whom I believe is relatively new told us on the first two Saturdays that the wait would be 40 min. and we left. Most distressing was our experience yesterday (01/08/2011) when we were told, by the same young lady that the wait would be 20 minutes. I noticed that there was only one couple left on her list to be seated. As we left we noticed at least two to three tables on the porch waiting to be cleaned and one near the fireplace. How could the hostess not see this? And if she did, why wasn't she more accomodating and say let me check and see where things are? My wife and I did return and have breafast this morning. It was great! Maybe you should consider educating the hostess on customer service. She just wasn't very helpful of, for that matter, friendly or upbeat. We're still loyal customers, as your wait and kitchen staff will attest. Just a suggestion! Hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tsao

Nothing beats Doc Taylor's for breakfast. It doesn't even matter that it's afternoon when you show up. Food is excellent and the service and atmosphere are always the best!

I came alone to try Doc T's out and didn't want to sit at the bar. The hostess said it would take 20 minutes I waited watching other customers come in after me in small groups of 2 get seated as I waited. This is not exceptable. I live on Pacific hoping to bring friends after I tried it out first. I was disappointed and after 20 minutes I left. Wish I could say the same with everyone else. It's not right to seat others because u know them. I understand business and planned to give a good tip, but I wasn't taken care of and served.

Hope you continue to take the locals comments for real.

Thanks,

Dan

My husband and I were there the one week after the Neptune festival and it rained everyday. Doc's was a great place to hang out for a while in the morning. Alot of local flavor and met some great people. Ate 4 times at Tautogs while we were there. Can't wait to come back.

I need to make it up to a Doc Taylor's breakfast soon. Ray Ray used to hook me up with the best french toast and fries I've ever had at Towne Center. Now I can enjoy one of his famous mimosas!

It was killer to walk into Doc's for breakfast on a Friday morning and see friends that I hadn't talked to in nearly a decade. Doc's is an institution in Va Beach and I only wish I would have tried a Bloody Mary to help me with my hangover.....next time!
